Repost from Facebook

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
* If you grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, you're a quintessential American story.
* If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
*If you name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
* If you graduate from Harvard law School, you are unstable.
* If you attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system, while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, *much* clearer now.

Surprise

I want someone to surprise me.

Too often people do exactly as I expect ... and I'm a cynic cum realist. So, its not a good thing that they always do as I expect.
And, I get the whole believe and it will happen /power of positive thinking thing. I do.
Its just that even though I believe, and I continue to try and to invest myself, my positive thought, my belief ... its always a let down.

My sister is great. My man is great. Which is why they've both been around so long.

I just want someone to surprise me and transcend my expectations.

Ms. Sonsie mentioned it might be the people I pick for friends.

She's totally right.
I have bad judgement.
Maybe the truth is, I dont want any real relationships. They take a lot of effort, and I ususally end up sorry.
bleh.
How to be free from baggage, yet wiser?

The News

CNN sucks.
We watch it all the time. I suppose its better than MSNBC and Fox, but really. Today we saw .. the Palin phenomenon. Moosekiller. They have apparently made an action figure. She's the new it girl. Sales for her glasses have skyrocketed. Honestly, mine are much cuter.
There are so many things wrong with this whole drama.
... She's a MOOSE KILLER! Why is that a good thing?

She's saying she will be an advocate for parents, but not all parents want the same things for their children. For instance, we don't advocate the senseless killing of animals. That is not a value that I want taught to my children. I can't believe that this is the shit that is on. Why are we just pretending that its ok to be lied to, pandered to ... especially as women!
She doesn't even advocate for women. She's a terrible example! She promotes abstinence education, and thus, has a pregnant teen daughter. She wants choice to be a private family matter, so she's pro - life. She's cut funding to disabled people in Alaska, yet claims she's an advocate for them. It makes me want to throw up.
There's nothing I hate more than Republican bitches.
They betray their sex.
Not all republican women are bitches, but Republican bitches are the worst kind. They remind me of high school. I remember writing a paper in A.P. American History, which we had to present to the class, that was on Feminism. After presenting my paper ... I was called a lesbian.
...giggle ...
now, I do like making out with girls, although I was afraid to admit it then. I have had mainly hetero relationships ... with the occasional girl thrown in here and there.
However, its funny that a paper on feminism would garner that sort of response!

This is what Sara Palin makes me think of. She would obviously be a terrible representative of woman-kind... or whatever. Would you want the nasty girl to be the 1st woman in the executive?
I would rather wait.
I knew that a black man would sooner be in office than a woman, and I'm ok with that. We aren't far behind.
The next piece on CNN was about models that have died from anorexia!
from one great example to the next.
ugh.
then.... a commercial where Obama is talking about Equal Pay for Equal Work.
Really... its SAD that we are still talking about that. Its still a real issue.
gross.
gross.
gross.
