Events

well, looks like I will be attending another Erasure show.
I remember the first two - both drastically different. The first one was in Miami - south beach. I was a recent convert to Erasure and I drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Tallahassee to pick up my best friend and her man to drive back down to miami to see the show. She was THE BIGGEST fan, and being a crazy 18 year old, that seemed like fun.
I wore 5" platform patent leather boots and my purple velour mini dress. such a crazy time.

We had an amazing music experience, my first of the kind... and nearly got into a fight with this bitch that jumped in front of us at the encore. I blew a ton of bubbles in her hair and her nasty boyfriend tried to start a fight with the goth couples...

the next one was in san francisco. we took a red eye, with my sister and Will. We went to sex clubs, sex shops, trader joes and all sorts of wonderful places.
It was the weekend that we invaded Iraq and there were tons of protests and rallys. It was incredible to be there in the middle of it.Erasure was fantastic, especially in San Francisco. We nearly got in a fight there too, but my sister ganged up with some cute gay boys and got rid of the bitch. I don't appreciate when I get to a show hours before so I can get a good spot on the floor and some ho tries to squeeze her way up front.
well, I'm too old for that now - we have assigned seats, and I'm stoked!

Bin

Bin wine cafe in Chicago is one of my favorite memories from our last trip. We had been out all day, shopping! I had on my new american apparel which always makes me feel good, but Will was in a terrible mood because of the severe hunger he was suffering from.... and we pop over to this semi shi shi looking place and think.... oh god no, there's nothing that looks hearty and vegetarian! However, several glasses of wine later we had feasted on some of the best cheese i've ever had, tempura beans, pasta, pizza and so on....
*sigh* stuffed, buzzed, happy, everyone smiling ... it was fantastic. There's nothing like that feeling. The little cafe on the corner, cheeks red with wine, and a stroll back to the apartment after some quite incredible desserts.
I'm really missing it right now. the food, the freedom - i need a vacation!! I feel so trapped in my car - we don't have any really great restaurants that aren't a corporate chain. bleh. i need out of the south.

Plus! they are incredible live... i loved every minute of their performance. If I just stay positive, we'll see them again in a few months!

Debates

Not that I didn't know it before, but Dennis Kucinich is my man. He's straightforward, and they never catch him in some crazy politician moment because he's always honest and genuine. Not that he has any chance of winning, but it would be a beautiful thing. He embodies much of what I feel America should be - a modern America that really believes in setting an example. Although a lot of the other candidates did well..... my favorite moment was when that idiot Wolf Blitzer tried to get kucinich to waffle on his stance by putting a ridiculous what if? statement to him -- (what if we knew where Osama was and to take him out we would have to kill civilians etc etc) Of course he said he would not practice assassination politics - as it is against International Law, and he looked at the audience and said 'and anyone who does violate International Law should be held accountable in the International Criminal Court..(not an exact quote) ahemmm.... George Bush. its nice to see someone really stand up, and not be afraid to say what we should all be saying. Too bad its all about looks, money, and marketability. He's my choice (so far) and maybe now that florida has moved up its primary, we can actually have an impact.

ferns take 2

more of the tree ferns on beautiful live oak trees... not in our yard, but a gorgeous example none the less.

manatee

while we were at the gorgeous public pool (three words that don't often go together) we were fortunate enough to see this manatee swimming about, and munching on the grass.

our staghorn fern in the grapefruit tree... another freebie!! Courtesy of a client moving out of the tropics.

Tree Ferns

These are our grgeous tree ferns. Will first showed them to me last night, as they normally look like moss - sort of dried up (will post photo of that later).

As soon as it rains, they come out and open up, and the whole live oak turns green. I darted out this morning to capture them before they retreated.

Gorgeous!

roll the dice

if you’re going to try, go all the
way.
otherwise, don’t even start.
if you’re going to try, go all the
way.
this could mean losing girlfriends,
wives, relatives, jobs and
maybe your mind.
go all the way.
it could mean not eating for 3 or 4 days.
it could mean freezing on a
park bench.
it could mean jail,
it could mean derision,
mockery,
isolation.
isolation is the gift,
all the others are a test of your
endurance, of
how much you really want to
do it.
and you’ll do it
despite rejection and the worst odds
and it will be better than
anything else
you can imagine.
if you’re going to try,
go all the way.
there is no other feeling like
that.
you will be alone with the gods
and the nights will flame with
fire.
do it, do it, do it.
do it.
all the way
all the way.
you will ride life straight to
perfect laughter, its
the only good fight
there is.

~Charles Bukowski
